Summer project 2006
Landart was invited to redesign this large rear garden with an emphasis on uniting and
improving the existing elements and renovating the kitchen garden. The clients were
looking for a cottage feel with strong curves along with a more formal four square kitchen garden.A meandering stone sett path edged with re-shaped borders leads through the length of the garden and arrives at a seating area. Edged with reclaimed bricks, the semi circular seating area echoes both the pergola rafters and the edging timber of the two adjacent kitchen garden raised beds. The paths between the four raised beds were laid with reclaimed bricks that camber to allow water to run off. These beds were of solid oak construction with visible stainless steel fixings.
The existing patio at the rear of the house was adapted to suit the new design by constructing larger semi-circular steps with stone sett detailing to match the stone path. This has integrated the existing patio into the overall garden.
