Autum/Winter project 2006
Landart's brief was to design and construct a focal point in an unused area of a woodland garden.
The woodland garden extended along a large bank with mature, rare and unusual trees and shrubs.
The design needed to comprise of a seating area that could be easily accessible from more than one
direction and which overlooked a large lawn back towards the house.
The bank was divided into three sweeping terraces, the base terrace being built of local ham stone with a cock and hen coping and the top two constructed of green oak. Oak fronted steps sweep up through these terraces to the arbour.
Paths spiral off either side of the arbour leading through the woodland area. One path then flies off the bank via a dynamic, snaking, oak slatted boardwalk which returns to the lower lawn. Lighting has been incorporated throughout the design so the woodland area can be enjoyed after dark.
Now the hard landscaping has been completed the clients are looking forward to planning their own planting scheme.
