Whitestaunton, Somerset

Whitestaunton Taking inspiration from an older style field layout, the paddock was terraced forming three level areas of ground reminiscent of old 'Strip Lynchets'. These were than planted with semi-mature fruit and parkland trees in a historic 'Goose foot' layout before being sown with a suitable wild flower seed mix. A new small orchard was created on the north side of the farmhouse. The boundary hedge had been laid many years ago but needed relaying which was done in the Devon style which particularly attracts songbirds. A pleached lime hedge was chosen as a screen to the modern farm buildings and a medieval mount was created so the whole layout of the garden can be viewed from on high. Landart Garden Design oversaw the creation of a wildlife pond sited within the design. The formal gardens surrounding the house are now under construction.
